Should I talk about the pier itself, the municipal wharf built in , the wharf which is the longest of the five wharves built here since , and a wharf which is still one of the largest piers on the coast, measuring 2, feet in length? Should I talk about the beach and the beach area that used to be known as the Coney Island of the west—with its boardwalk, casino, and famous Giant Dipper, one of the last wooden roller coasters on the West Coast? Should I talk about the crowds on the pier, an estimated million people a year which, if my mathematical calculations are correct translates into about 10, people a day?

O’Neill experimented with different materials, eventually leading him to the neoprene wetsuits cold water athletes use today. He’s pictured holding one of those wetsuits left, and wearing one right In , when Santa Cruz wasn’t a huge surfing town, O’Neil moved there and set up his second shop to sell wetsuits at Cowell beach.

He said he always considered Santa Cruz the ‘center’ of surfing, there just needed to be a better way to keep warm in the frigid waters. He said the early wetsuits were viewed skeptically by other surfers, who were used to spraying Goodwill sweaters with water sealing spray In , he created the O’Neill surfing team, finding up-and coming surfers and giving them new boards.

Tick-Tock the Crocodile better known as just the Crocodile is a supporting character in Disney ‘s animated feature, Peter Pan. Contents [ show ] Background Tick-Tock was born several years before the events of Peter Pan, hatching on the shores of Neverland. He was adopted by a fairy named Rosetta , an early ally of Peter Pan’s pixie companion Tinker Bell , whom he mistook for his mother. Not long after being born, the young crocodile found himself aboard the ship of a young pirate captain named James, who would one day become the feared Captain Hook.

During his escapade aboard James’ ship, the crocodile accidentally swallowed the alarm clock of one of the crew members, thus gaining his iconic nickname. The ship adventure would also lead to Tick-Tock’s first encounter with Hook, believing the captain was a codfish, prompting him to snap and chase after him in the seas.

Years later, Tick-Tock would eventually grow to a monstrous size, considering he’s a crocodile, and his never-ending pursuit to have another taste of James continued. One day, however, James’ hand was cut off in battle by Peter Pan, and fed to Tick-Tock as a snack, thus fueling the croc’s hunger even further. Fortunately for James, now known as Captain Hook after the loss of his hand, the ticking alarm clock in Tick-Tock’s stomach gives a warning whenever the croc is near, allowing Hook to prepare himself for the danger moments away.

Physical Description The Crocodile is a green giant saltwater crocodile with sharp teeth, dark spikes on his back, long tail, yellow iris eyes, or sometimes colorful iris eyes, short legs, and makes a tick-tock sound with his tail or his eyes popping up with sound too. Most of the Crocodile’s animation was done by lead Disney animator Wolfgang Reitherman , who was best known for directing action scenes in Disney animated features.

Captain Hook laments Peter Pan’s role in causing the crocodile to follow him, due to Peter cutting off his hand and throwing it to the crocodile.

Campsites and Holiday Parks in Santa Cruz de Tenerife

This RV spot, and I hesitate to call it a “park” because there is not much there to define a RV park. It is basically a lined off set of parking spots with a power pedestal and a picnic table. There was enough room for our 37′ motor home, and we were able to pull the Jeep all the way to the back of the site so we could put chairs in the front for a view of the boats and the marina. The parts to love are backing into your site and and having a view of Santa Cruz harbor and marina out of the front window.

The sites are full hook up and the water pressure is strong. The sites are all pavement so dirt or sand is not an issue.

After the race, she politely turns down Sterling’s offer to join the race team, possibly in retaliation for underestimating her skills and joins Dinoco’s racing team sporting Doc Hudson’s old number 51 , with McQueen serving as her crew chief. Miss Fritter’s Racing Skoool In the short, Cruz and McQueen celebrate her win at the Florida and put her trophy next to the other trophy she earned at the Crazy Eight, only for both of them to see a commercial on the television featuring Miss Fritter , talking about her racing school.

The sound waves caused by Miss Fritter’s yelling at the end of the commercial knock over Cruz’s Crazy Eight trophy and smash it to bits, much to Cruz’s dismay.

Twice-daily passenger service continued across the Santa Cruz Mountains via the San Jose-Santa Cruz Branch for the next two years but this too was discontinued on February 26, , when catastrophic damage to the route caused by severe winter storms rendered the line impassible. After months of discussion and debate, during which time passenger service was rerouted along the Santa Cruz Branch along the coast, the portion of the San Jose-Santa Cruz Branch between Los Gatos and Olympia, two miles north of Felton, was abandoned on November 7, Concurrent with the activity along the railroad lines, California State Route 17 henceforth Highway 17 was nearing completion.

Construction of the highway had begun in to replace the aged and overcrowded Glenwood Highway then called State Route 5. The section from Santa Cruz to Los Gatos was completed in August , adding further support to the idea that passenger service and the route through the Santa Cruz Mountains could be safely abandoned without consequences. Most commentators at the time felt that the new highway would adequately replace the absent railroad service. A local suggested in that the resumption of passenger service was forthcoming due to the exponential population growth in the county.

However, these were discontinued in due to cost and declining interest. The last excursion trains along the Santa Cruz Branch occurred in , after which Southern Pacific discontinued any passenger service within the county whatsoever due to the declining quality of the railbed. Meanwhile, fatalities along Highway 17 increased rapidly, with five people killed in ten days in The state began looking for ways to widen Highway 17 and convert it into a full freeway or otherwise improve it to a make it safer.

Other proposals at this time included converting Highway 17 into a toll road to reduce traffic and pay for upkeep and improvements, the construction of a second route between the Alamden Valley and Soquel, and adding a second road so that each could run one-way with more lanes.
